One thing you can do to increase the life span of this product is to be relatively prompo in how often you clean it. With traditional carving knives it isn’t very difficult to sharpen them, but that unfortunately is not as much of an option with this product. All blades are subject to growing dull after extensive use. ![]() The really problem, in terms of durability anyway, is the blades. Keep in mind that this is a kitchen slicer, so it’s not exactly going to be subject to wear and tear. The actual frame of the device is a relatively solid plastic, but that shouldn’t really mind much either way. Now that said, the device is still certainly useable-you may just have to send your food through the slicer a few times before it looks the way that you want it to. Your traditional chopping knives are definitely going to be a lot sharper than the blades you are getting here, which leads to inconsistent cuts that can be a problem for a chef that demands perfection. The biggest problem seems to be the sharpness of the blades. While the actual MO of the tool is as described, the results are not quite as consistent as most people would probably hope them to be. It all sounds pretty good, right? It is in principle, though unfortunately the operation of this device is not quite as simple and streamlined as the advertisements would have you believe. Once you have sliced up your favorite foods you can simply give it a quick rinse off in the sink, then toss it in the dishwasher and let the machine take care of the rest. You simply feed food into the chamber with blades, and turn the handle to produce a simple, consistent cut on your favorite fruits, vegetables, and hard cheeses.Ĭleaning the Nutrislicer is also designed to be a breeze. Operating the Nutrislicer is really pretty simple. While this product is excellent for grating cheeses and carving up veggies, it’s not going to be very helpful at tackling a steak. ![]() It’s also not going to be much use to people that don’t eat a lot of fruits or vegetables (this is the NUTRIslicer, after all). Why? While this isn’t necessarily what I would call an expensive product, its price point is high enough that you might be better off sticking to the products you already have in your kitchen if you aren’t going to use it much. ![]() If you are the sort that only occasionally does cooking that doesn’t involve spreading peanut butter over a piece of bread, you should be able to get by just fine with a traditional set of chopping knives. On the other hand it’s not going to be a very good product for the person who makes only limited use of the kitchen. ![]() Slicing is something that most people do in some capacity throughout the preparation of just about every meal, which means if you do decide to invest in this product you are almost guaranteed to get your money’s worth out of it. The good news is that this isn’t an overly specialized kitchen gadget like those overly fancy mixers (after all, who does four hundred dollars worth of mixing?). In other words, the product (in theory anyway) is going to be suitable for pretty much anyone that prepares their own food. Simply put, the Nutrislicer is a kitchen tool that is optimized for anyone who is looking to shave a little bit of time off their food prep routine.
